So why did England miss out on World Cup 2018?

So not even the 'three lions' in David Beckham, Prince William and David Cameron - combined with a whole truckload of schmooze - could bring the World Cup to England in 2018, with Russia being awarded the honour mere moments ago. Cool things to buy on Amazon

It seems that one of FIFA's policies, alongside the hiring of dubious individuals and a unmatched thirst for money, of giving the World Cup to countries that have never hosted it has been continued. Even more unfortunately it seems at this stage that England went out in the first round, a fact that was circulated around the internets before the 'completely secret and confidential' vote results were even announced.

The question is? Why did England miss out? Why do we have to wait for more than a decade for another chance to 'bring football home' ? 


Was it the warring Brummies throwing fireworks at each other after last nights Birmingham derby?

Well no. It wasn't. Unless the FIFA officials took a quick break from receiving back-handers last night to watch the entirety of  a league cup fixture that was notable for its dullness. Alongside this, if it is hooliganism that FIFA have a problem with then mayby someone should remind them of Russia's proud tradition of beating seven shades of shit out of each other in the name of football supporting. Thats without even beginning to touch upon the culture of racism that is sure to reer its ugly head at some point in the tournament.

Do Sepp and Putin have a 'special relationship' that Putin did not want draw attention to by turning up and receiving a hug from the FIFA president?

Although it would be churlish to call the FIFA officials a bunch of profiteering money grabbing persons at this early stage, we certainly would not be the first...

....So was it the Panorama investigation into shady goings on at FIFA? 

Well it can't have hurt. 

Or was it the fact that FIFA like to take the World Cup to countries where they can swan in, take some money, swan out - leaving countries such as South Africa with huge stadiums that they will never be able to maintain amongst other logistical problems - without actually contributing anything to the future economy of the country.
